blueberries and banana make good muffins.

as you know we're going away soon on our holidays. so i'm not grocery shopping... because i'm not lugging around a ton of food, and i don't want stuff to go off.. it makes sense. but it also means, that i didn't realize i was running out.. and when my little man didn't want cereal this morning, i had to think fast.

our fruit was ripening faster, so baking was in order.
i don't even know where i got this recipe. i have a habit of writing recipes down (i have a lot actually) and it's neat to leaf through the index cards to see what i can find. and i'm sure i've had this one on hand for at least a decade.

i thought i'd share it with you today... since they're super yummy and all...

blueberry banana oat muffins
(makes 12)

mix together:
1 cup  ww.flour
1 cup rolled oats
1/3 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda

in a seperate bowl, blend:
1 egg, beaten
1 cup mashed banana (i used 3... they had to be used up)
2 tbsp melted butter

add the banana mixture to the flour mixture. then fold in 1 cup blueberries. you could add apples too.
note: you may also replace applesauce for the banana and raisins for blueberries (just for a variation)

bake in a greased muffin tin at 400 degrees for 15 min. or until toothpick comes out clean.

they're yummy. my 4 year old tester gave me the thumbs up.

what are you baking today? xo

getting serious

we get a fair amount of rain here on vancouver island... it's not such a bad thing, because then everything is so green... but it makes for some inventive playtimes with the kiddo... especially when some serious crafting needs to get done.

it's time to step up my game. luckily we headed to the library earlier this week, so we've stocked up on good books and movies... but i think we're still missing something... something that will keep me crafting, and creative, and my little tot happy... oh yes... i need this:

:) well maybe just the cookies will do. but i still think they'd taste better with the mug :)
yesterday didn't work out as i had planned (well my days rarely do) so today, like i said, i need to step up my game. i'm getting my craft on!
seriously. let's hope these fingers fly.

i'm also looking for recipes for veal  pork tenderloin.

ps . it seems that blogger is making it difficult to leave comments again. so please head on over to nook's facebook page, and we can chat all away there! i love your company! xo

what do you have up for today? i'd love to hear what you're creating, be it yarn related, or food. seriously. :) shall i put on a fresh pot of coffee? would you like a cookie? xo

back on track.. and a reveal!

well as best as we can be :) i can't believe that it's the week of september 1st already! so now is as good a time as any to get back into a routine, and a schedule of sorts. speaking of routine... here's our meals for the week. it's been a while since i've posted about this! well.. back at 'er!
we're going for very simple this week, as the hubs is working nights... so dinners are just me and owen. i made these rosemary potatoes a few weeks ago and looove it! i don't know why i never really thought to put rosemary in potatoes before... but yummmmm... have to do it again. as for the lazy man's risotto? it's basically no wine... but i suppose it's still a lot of stirring. oh well... i suppose one meal this week could take a little extra work.

i'm just soo glad to have my kitchen back! no more storage in there!!! the floors are done. wanna see??

i am very very happy with it. it's even better than the old floor.... which, in my opinion had too much red. these guys were fantastic! they even repainted my baseboards... lovely. do you like it? a tiny secret... the hubs picked out the flooring! i'm so impressed :)
so now that things are pretty much back in their place, and meal planning has started up again.... i'm feeling pretty good about the beginning of this week...  and the beginning of this season.
the knitting is about to kick in full force! classes are filling up, and i couldn't be happier. bliss. :)
here's a little of what you have to look forward to!

oh so pretty, don't ya think? i love red.

so stay tuned! i've got lots planned, and lots to share! get your needles ready! it's gonna be an epic season ;)

are you ready for september 1st? are you as excited for fall knitting as i am? what are you up to this week? i'd love to hear from you, and i'm in the mood to chat!

meal planning and more!

helloo! i missed you! did you miss me? how was your weekend? ours was uber, and i mean uber full.... and fun :) lots and lots of park time, tonnes of crafting, and finalizing schedules. i was really sad to miss knit night this week, but my day had been sooo busy, and my little guy missed me soo much, i just didn't have the heart to dash out again... so we all just had a quieter evening at home on the sat.
but before i get ahead of myself, here's what we're eating this week :)

it's a yummy summer themed week. we're having quesadillas again (sorry i spelled it wrong on the chalkboard). ha. oh well, we all make mistakes. i love this recipe though! i really am a fan of this dish. do you have a fav meal that you tend to fall back on a lot because it's just well... soooooo good? i bet you do! and i promise to share the deets on the recipe with you once we make it. sound good? good.

as i had mentioned too, i've been really busy on the knitting front. so many exciting things in the works! here's a little sneak peak!

but it's no secret ;) i can talk about it. this one is from jane richmond's pattern "marian". i loooove it! it's so squishy and soft! i've used lion brand wool ease thick and quick. i didn't have the recommended 15.0mm needles, but i did have the 12.75mm. i'm refusing to buy any other needles... until i order my knitpicks interchangeable needles.

i've only been drooling over these babies... and talking about them non stop. i just know i'll knit faster and better with these needles. hopefully i won't have to wait too much longer....

i like the outcome of marian though! and soon you'll see more pics of it!
the etsy shop has been a priority for me... and i've actually just updated all of the photos! so i've decided to feature one item for ya today...

remember these guys?

yup. these are the "hug your coffee" mug hugs. i'm always getting compliments on these! and they're so portable. i just keep one in my bag at all times, and i never have to worry about burning my hands... also.. they're uber cute. it's a good time to be thinking and planning for gift giving, these make great stocking stuffers! check my shop for more pics!  by the way.. i'm loving my bag!! i totally recommend making one!

how was your weekend? did you get some crafting done? i'd love to hear what you've been up to? i've got so much to share with you this week! can't wait! have you used the "hug your coffee" tutorial? i'd love to see pics! post a link for all of us to see!
